Pre-Operative Instructions for Dental Implants
Our All On Dental clinic team achieves excellent results when placing dental implants, with a success rate of up to 95%. The credit for this success goes to the planning and care before, during, and after the treatment.
Following the Pre and Post Operative instructions mark for 40% of the success rate. (If you have any questions that we didn’t mention in this guide, please call us)
Before Travelling for Your Dental Treatment:
• Notify your dentist if you’re suffering from a cold, headache, or flu before your treatment.
• Ensure that your passport is valid and has at least six months of validity.
• Check https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/ for details about An e-Visa, an official document permitting entry into and travel within Turkey.
• Download the BI Taksi app for smooth transportation and taxi booking in Turkey. It is the local “Uber” in Turkey.
• Communicate with our team about any illicit recreational drug use, don’t worry! Your privacy is as essential as your treatment satisfaction.
Necessary Errands:
To ensure maximum relaxation after implants surgery, it’s a great idea to take care of chores ahead of time. We recommend the following in the days leading up to your implant treatment:
• Purchase soft foods or food supplements for the early days of healing. You won’t be able to have hard, chewy food. (read our post-operative instructions for Dental Implants)
• Do your chores and any physical tasks before the treatment. We want you to take it easy after the treatment.
The Day Before The Dental Implants Treatment:
• Do your best to relax, Get a good night’s rest the day before surgery, and get mentally ready for the big day.
• You will be asked to fast if you decide to go with General Anesthesia or IV Sedation.
• Draft the questions you want to ask the dentist beforehand to efficiently use your time and the dentist’s time.
Day of The Dental Implants Treatment:
• Do not have caffeinated drinks on the day of the implants procedure.
• Eat a proper meal before arriving at our clinic for surgery unless you are going with General Anesthesia or IV Sedation.
• Brush and floss, and make sure that your teeth and mouth are clean.
• Wear comfortable and loose clothes and comfortable shoes.
• Bring your music (I-pod and headphones), or we can provide musical selections for you to listen to during your procedure. All you need is to share your favorite playlist with us.
• Avoid wearing jewelry, makeup, cologne/perfume, and so on.
• Bring your passport or ID and a list of medications you take daily if so.
Dental Hygiene:
• Brush and floss as you usually would. This will control oral bacteria and prevent potential infections and other complications during implant treatment and recovery.
Transportation:
• If you purchased the transportation service provided by All On Dental, You only need a loved one to be present to drive you from your city airport upon your arrival to your country of residence.
• If you didn’t purchase the transportation service provided by All On Dental, you need to arrange the transportation to your hotel. Our team would love to help you get into a taxi.
Medication:
• Take your daily prescribed medications as usual. Please inform us about them as well.
• Please tell us if you take aspirin and/or fish oils daily. If you take blood thinners, we will ask you to stop them seven days before the dental implant procedure and consult your cardiologist/house doctor. Aspirin can dilute the blood, resulting in increased bleeding during the implant process.
Medication:
• Take your daily prescribed medications as usual. Please inform us about them as well.
• Please tell us if you take aspirin and/or fish oils daily. If you take blood thinners, we will ask you to stop them seven days before the dental crowns and consult your cardiologist/house doctor. Aspirin can dilute the blood, resulting in increased bleeding during the crown process.
Alcohol Consumption:
• Don’t drink alcohol seven days before your dental implant treatment.
• Alcohol works as a vasodilator, leading to open blood vessels and increased bleeding during your dental implant surgery.
Smoking:
• Don’t smoke seven days before your dental implant treatment.
• Nicotine can raise the chance of infection during dental implant surgery.
General Anesthesia (IV Sedation):
• Please fast! Don’t eat or drink for eight hours before your implant procedure. General Anesthesia or IV Sedation causes a temporary relaxation of your body’s reflexes. Your stomach must be empty to avoid vomiting.
Medical History & Conditions:
• Inform your dentist about any allergies or health situations that you might have.
• Please, provide any relevant medical records, daily prescribed medication, or test results.
• It would help if you consulted any medical conditions before the Implant treatment date.
• If you have any cardiac-related issues, we advise you to consult your cardiologist and seek their approval.
Cost and Payment:
• We prefer that you pay the treatment fees in cash, as payments with credit cards and bank transfers are subject to extra taxes and expenses.
• You don’t need to exchange Euro, GBP, or USD for Turkish Lira before arriving in Turkey.
• Read about the implant procedure steps and the potential fees. At All On Dental, we will provide you with a detailed treatment plan and a trip cost breakdown.
• If you’re planning to pay with a credit card in Turkey, inform your bank that you will be carrying out overseas transactions.
• We recommend you bring cash with you. In Turkey, cash payment is the preferred payment method, and you won’t be charged extra bank-related charges.
After the Treatment:
• Take a few days off work to relax and recover following treatment.
• All On Dental can write a sick leave for up to 7 days for the Implant procedure.
